come on, dover

i survived france!  and enjoyed it, no less!  but i have crossed to the Other Side now, via a stretch of water so narrow, the white cliffs could be seen before leaving calais.

of course not everyone finds the proximity as enchanting as i did - hence the heavily fortified coastline.  makes for some neat places to walk around though, and my birthday twin phil was a great and knowledgeable host about local curiosities, both recent and ancient (resulting in an extended, but truly mermerizing, late-night fossil session).
