webnesday, episode 2 (bonus feline edition)

ok.  we all know i like spiders here.  and here.  and even in japan.  and that i am sadly devoted to puns.  so it should come as no surprise that the extremely corny concept of webnesday has been scuttling around the cobwebby corners of my brain, festering and giggling quietly to itself ever since last april.  well, the time has come to do something about it.  our new house has no dearth of arachnids (was there any fear?) and i have easily enough material for several months' worth of weekly spiders.  are you as excited as i am?  pedipalps in the air, here we go!

this lovely orb-weaver (Eriophora pustulosa, i believe) was busy spinning in our neighbors' hedge last week.  she caught several meals while i was admiring her work.

oh, and this inaugural edition comes with a bonus game of 'spot the interloper.'  only half the required number of legs, i know, but still somehow engaging.  he also thought i was completely bonkers, but wasn't above begging an evident madwoman for a scratch under the chin.
